Who We Are
Founded in 2011 in response to the devastating Haiti earthquake, GEM has evolved into a highly efficient, 4-star Charity Navigator-rated organization. Over the past decade, we have delivered over $726 million in aid across 382 missions in 76 countries and all 50 U.S. states. Our work spans immediate emergency response to long-term recovery, including the distribution of family necessity kits, food, medical supplies, shelter materials, and innovative housing solutions. GEM's operations are guided by a commitment to transparency, accountability, and far-reaching impact.
What We Do
Our Mission: GEM is driven by a singular purpose: to empower communities before, during, and after a crisis. We focus on building resilience through preparedness initiatives, rapid intervention during disasters, and sustainable rebuilding efforts that foster self-sufficiency.
Our Model: We deliver the most aid to the greatest number of people in need, in the shortest amount of time, and with the least amount of cost to our donors. This streamlined operating model has consistently achieved a 96% direct-impact rate, ensuring that nearly every donated dollar reaches those in crisis. By leveraging strategic partnerships, pre-positioned supplies, and a network of local responders, GEM minimizes bureaucracy and maximizes efficiency.
